Pedro Langa

Biography
Pedro Langa is a Mozambican artist who was born in 1975. During the civil war in Mozambique, which started soon after his birth, he went to Zimbabwe and finished his schooling there. He lived in Zimbabwe for 18 years where he also undertook art courses and developed his creative practice.

Langa is a low-profile artist with lesser exposure. Even though he has not yet had a formal exhibition, his artworks have already been collected and sponsored by art lovers from Spain, Italy, Portugal, USA and Norway.
Living in Africa may have presented fewer opportunities, but Langa's personal dream is to introduce art lessons and techniques all over his home nation of Mozambique and also to build an established art gallery.

At Fine Collectibles, we believe that Langa's talent deserves a much wider exposure, and so our passion is to bring his works to more art lovers and collectors.

Artwork Description
Langa's artwork reflects the traditional art of the African continent and yet shows very strong originality. Borrowing images and contents from his culture, he depicts the difficulties and happiness of its people and their lives, as well as animals or nature, in vivid colours traditional to African art, giving a sense of a positive outlook on life. His figures and images that are drawn from real life actually transcend into very conceptual symbols which are somewhat reminiscent of Piccaso.

Batik is a very common textile in Mozambique and Zimbabwe and in his work Langa paints on this traditional textile with a unique method using baking flour and paint.

Pedro Langa
